Keith Robertson of Windsor says: “ It has been a busy time at Windsor the last few years with a number of New Zealand based CDK (Continuous Drying Kiln) projects either completed or near completion. These past weeks we have just commissioned another two CDK systems one of which is a conversion system for Craigpine Timber in Winton and over the next few weeks we will be commissioning a new CDK for Pan Pac Forest Products (Otago) Ltd at their Milburn facility. Two of these CDK system operate at medium to high drying temperatures while all the others are operate at conventional to medium temperatures. The heating medium for these CDKs is a mix of either steam or HPHW (High Pressure Hot Water) and significant energy savings have been achieved. The Craigpine conversion saw two existing CTS-8 batch kilns successfully converted into a CDK system. This takes the number of Windsor CDK systems in New Zealand to seven in total including the SPP Stillwater, South Pine Nelson, Kiwi Lumber Masterton and two others into account. The feedback from the operational sites has been very positive”.
